It’s summer

In the unlikely event that you needed it –  a reminder that summer seems to be here

–    and by long-established tradition there is no meeting for Staffs Patchworkers in August.  So there is a whole month to enjoy the garden, the Olympics, a holiday, some sewing ….

Our next meeting is Thursday 6th September when our speaker will be Christine Porter, and this year’s Chairman’s Challenge will be revealed, plus the next Block of the Month.  See you there!

July meeting report

A brief outburst of warm weather and sunshine was the setting for our July meeting – and more than sixty of us gathered to hear Sally Ablett talk about her work.  We had an excellent Show & Tell (plus the traditional raffle) first,  and then Margaret Spate did sterling work as the frontline helper as Sally took us through a dazzling number of quilts with lots of tips and anecdotes.  There was a real buzz and scrum at the end as everyone wanted to chat to Sally, see the quilts up close, and acquire at least one of her bag patterns.

Retail therapy for this meeting was provided by ZigZags.  Our next meeting is Thursday 6th September when retail will be courtesy of Pollyanna Patchwork and our speaker will be Christine Porter.  The September meeting will also launch this year’s Chairman’s Challenge and the next Newsletter (complete with Block of the Month) will be available.  So, make plans to be there!

July meeting

Just a reminder that we have Sally Ablett as our speaker for the July meeting which is this coming Thursday 5th July.  Sally has a vast range of practical quilting experience – she designs, teaches and works with various fabric companies, notably Fabric Freedom.  It’s bound to be a good night – remember to bring your mug for your tea or coffee – and doors open at 6.45 so you have a chance to bag a seat, check out the noticeboards, browse the retail section, buy a raffle ticket and generally have a good time.  You’ll be able to sign up for our September informal workshop “Soup, Sew & Sixties” (details on our workshop page), and there might even be a short “Show & Tell” depending on who has finished what.

See you there!  (President’s Hall, Walton Community Centre, Whitemill Lane, Walton, Stone  ST15  0EQ)
