Scheduled for September

Soup, Sewing & Sixties

Saturday 29th September

Walton Community Centre, Whitemill Lane, Walton, Stone  ST15 0EQ

Here’s what is on offer at our informal (and very cheap) workshop day

Cost =  only £5 per person

– this includes a soup, bread & cheese lunch plus tea, coffee & cake throughout the day

We suggest you bring your basic hand sewing kit (just in case) and a bag to hold any acquisitions from the “studio clearout” table

We will have tables and cables laid out for  at least 12 people to work on their own projects – first come, first served, and maybe be prepared to share.  Bring your usual workshop kit for this (and your own project of course!) – machine, threads, cutter, ruler, mat etc.  If you have a handstitching project to bring along, that’s fine, because we assume you will take up less room so we can accommodate even more folks.

If you don’t want to work on your own project there will be a number of activities to occupy and entertain you –

Heather Russell will be running a Linus corner with 2 sewing machines and a small prep space – take it in turns to give half an hour of your time to contribute some stitching to ongoing Linus projects

Jane Lockley will be directing hands-on demo and practical  sessions based on altering fabric by stamping, printing and other slightly messy processes

Chris Franses will be demonstrating some of the wonders of Electric Quilt computer design program

Tracy James  will be conducting “make it and take it” sessions making pincushions and needlecases – perfect for gifts, full kit provided

Barbara hopes to run a “learn to crochet” table if she’s not too busy serving soup

We will also have a studio clearout table – pre-owned magazines, books, fabric etc

We’re planning on drawing a raffle around 3pm and there will be a background of sixties music throughout the day

There is still time to book for this wonderful event – either at our September meeting or contact our Treasurer Hilary

At our next meeting

At our next meeting – Thursday 6th September – you will be able to pick up your free Chairman’s Challenge pack.  Last year’s Challenge was very well-supported and we hope that this year’s Challenge will be equally popular.  There are only 55 packs … make sure you are there in good time to collect yours.
