I hope you all had a good Christmas and Santa left you lots of patchwork and quilting goodies under the tree.
Before Christmas about half of us braved the dreadful weather forecast and blocked roads (accidents on the M6 and A34) to get to our Christmas party. There were mince pies and Stollen aplenty and non-alcoholic fizz (we were all driving) helped them to slip down a treat. A table of donated goodies for the Tombola disappeared as the night went on and hopefully a good sum was raised for our local First Responders.
I kept busy over Christmas with some stained glass patchwork and when you are putting on the black bias tape it becomes quite addictive. “I’ll stop when I get to the end of the fishes fin or the top of the sea weed” said I. But an hour later I’m still going. I found meals were just appearing by my side, courtesy of a fed-up-of-waiting husband who had cooked out of starvation! I have now finished the piece, but I definitely must do some more. It’s compulsive.
We kick off this year’s programme with Jane Lockley and “Have a go at stamping on fabric”. Jane has done this with us before at a Soup & Sew Saturday and her table was very busy with people having a go. So I’m sure Jane will be showing us some fabulous things to do again.
A reminder that our AGM will be in March and Tori and I are both standing down from our temporary measure of joint Chairman. So now we need someone to take over from us. If you would like to take on this challenge then see Marlene at the next meeting.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting – Thursday 6th February.
